Laid Down as the HMS Capel Commissioned on 15 March 1943 as the USS Andres DE 45. End Service on 18 Oct 1945 at the Charleston Navy Yard. Stricken 1 November 1945. Scrapped in Feb 1946. First DE Commissioned in the Atlantic Fleet. First DE to go to Bermuda for shakedown. Used mostly as a training ship, but made three convoys from Norfolk, VA to Oran, Algeria, and back.
