Lost: 12 Dec, 1943 in position (c 37.10'N, 06.05'E) Western Med. was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean, NE of Bougie, Algeria by 1 torpedo from the German submarine U-593. (Lt.Cdr.Kelbling). Whilst on UK/African convoy KMS.34  German U-593 is finally sunk the next day.
